My name is Courtney Allen and I’m excited to have been given the opportunity to build a tennis program at Jones Bridge Swim and Racquet. I am a USPTA Elite Pro whose been in the business of teaching tennis for 30 years. I’ve coached players of all ages, all ability levels, and I’ve got some great ideas for the players of Jones Bridge.
I’d like to tell you a little about my tennis background. From the time I tried out for my high school team in Bloomington, Illinois, tennis quickly became my passion. Although I didn’t make the varsity team as a freshman, I won a state doubles title by the time I became a senior. After I graduated from high school, I went on to play for Principia College in Elsah, Illinois and won six NCAA Division III championships in the mid 1980s. After college, I travelled and played for four years, earning a world ranking in singles and doubles.
The transition from player to coach was an easy one for me. In the early nineties, I became a certified teaching professional through the USPTR and started my teaching career at Peachtree World of Tennis in Norcross, Georgia. In 1992, I left WCT and became an independent teaching pro. I’ve been teaching, coaching, running junior academies and adult league teams out of metro Atlanta neighborhoods ever since. I’ve been fortunate enough to develop some of the best junior players in the nation, and I’ve coached a countless number of Alta and USTA teams to city and sectional championships. I’m truly a student of the game and I’m a technique freak! It’s thrilling to see players develop and improve, whether that player is a “Pee Wee,” a competitive junior, or an adult weekend warrior. I want my students to have and I want them to become better players!
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given to run the tennis program at Jones Bridge, and I look forward to the Jones Bridge community. Please contact me for lesson information and let’s get started!
